This Month: Folxlore!

Writer: Amber DevereuxAmber Devereux

Greetings everyone!

My name is David Devereux, I'm a writer, musician, sound designer and audio producer here at Tin Can Audio, and I'll be sharing a little bit on what we've been up to in the past month, as well as some thoughts and ramblings on sound design, music, podcasting, writing, and, it seems, other stuff as well.

It is March, the days are getting longer and we are on the cusp of our first big audio drama release of 2021, as we release Season 1 of Folxlore! As a result, most of this month will be focused on that, as well as the continuing release of Love & Wards.

Last Month's Links

  • We released Love & Wards into the world! At time of writing the first 2 episodes are available to listen to from all good podcatchers. You can also listen to the whole series by downloading a season pass from our Bandcamp.

  • Our fantasy-comedy series, The Dungeon Economic Model, passed 10,000 total downloads. It's been about a year since we decided to bring production forward due to lockdown in the UK, and for something that was cobbled together in the early months of the pandemic, it's wonderful to see it find it's own little audience.

This Month: Folxlore!

We are incredibly excited to finally be releasing a new season of our collaboration with In The Works, Folxlore, with a set of 8 brand new episodes of unsettling queer horror stories.

Episode 1 will be released March 7th, with subsequent episodes being released weekly. We're going to be trialing a new release system for both Patreon and Bandcamp, which we're also hoping to use for Middle:Below II later this year. We'll be releasing the series in two parts, with the first 4 episodes available to pre-order now, and the other 4 will be released in a couple of months.

The reason we're trialing this system is that, while we've found success with the Bandcamp season passes and the Patreon pre-releases, both Folxlore and Middle:Below II are big projects, and for the sake of getting everything finished to a standard that is high, that also doesn't completely exhaust the editor (that's me, hello) we thought we'd split the series in two.

Folxlore Launch Livestream!

To celebrate the release of Folxlore Season 1, we are going to be hosting special livestream on our Twitch channel on Saturday March 6th, 7pm UTC. We'll be joined by the team behind the show for a live listen of the three pilot episodes, answering listener questions, and talking a little bit about what to expect from our new season.

It's going to be a fun evening of barely containted chaos, we hope you can join us!

If you like what we do and you want to help us make more, you can buy us hot beverages on ko-fi. You can also support us by buying something from our bandcamp, where we have the soundtracks to our show as well as extra music.

If you want to support us long term, you can sign up to our Patreon, where you'll receive additional content such as blooper reels, live content and interviews with our cast & crew.

All that being said, the best support you can give is listening to our shows and telling other people about them. Word-of-mouth is everything to small indie podcasters, and hearing from people who have enjoyed our work is what keeps us going.

Thank you for listening.

David
