Excuse Me, A Sound Design Experiment

Writer: Amber DevereuxAmber Devereux

A small, slightly silly meditation on sound design and the Kuleshov Effect in audio storytelling.

Written, produced and scored by Amber Devereux

With contributions from Vincent Price (voiced by Tobias Weatherburn)

Today (admittedly a few days late) I have a new tiny audio piece for you!

This month I wanted to try a little sound design experiment involving a principal in film editing known as the Kuleshov Effect. I had this idea that it could also be applied to sound design and audio storytelling. So with the help of Vincent Price (voiced by Tobias Weatherburn), we explore this idea and make some very, very silly things along the way.

I was very lucky that, during production, Tobias was actually up in Glasgow recording another project at TCHQ, so we were able to concentrate the chaos into the studio for an evening, which went about as well as you'd expect.

I'm going to be taking a month away from tiny in March as I've got a couple of big projects in the pipeline that need my attention, so this month on Twitch I'll be going back to making music from scratch. But that does not mean there will be nothing in the feed at the end of the month, but that's all I'll say for now.

Enjoy!
